My Story

Hi, I’m Krystal Salvent, a fitness badass, juggling three careers. I’m a dental hygienist, a personal trainer/group fitness instructor, and a fitness model. For the past thirteen years, I’ve worked in the dental field. I began as a dental assistant and then worked my way up to dental hygienist. When I was laid off from a dental hygiene job that I was sure I would retire from, I felt that I had failed in some way. I was devastated. Fitness gave me hope. I found solace in movement. The sweat, the challenges, and the community kept me sane during that period. Fitness transformed my world and became my source of inspiration. I couldn’t stay frozen. I had to keep moving.

As a child, exercise and movement had been one of the few ways I was able to communicate and share time with my three brothers. That is why gravitating towards fitness felt most organic. Fitness is what I often called, and continue to call, "play time." It is a time I get to share my feelings, thoughts and find growth with others. There is laughing, crying, and wishing it was over, but there is also feeling great and thankful to be alive. Soon after being laid off, I discovered that I was able to inspire others through my passion. In that moment, I took a leap of faith. I had nothing to lose, so I got certified as a personal trainer and the rest has been history being made one sweaty session at a time.

Though the last few years have had their high-highs and really low-lows, I have been inspired by my own personal growth. I’ve had to learn to not let challenges or criticism bring me down. I’ve had to learn to use these things to fuel a powerful life. Allowing myself to be vulnerable is by far one of my biggest challenges and an area where I aspire to grow personally. Being a person of influence comes with a lot of responsibility, and I don’t take that lightly. It is a daily challenge to manage my own personal expectations while staying authentic, open, and motivated in front of others. Sharing and living those moments live, is what I feel makes me most authentic and relatable. This path has given me a platform to share and connect vulnerably with people. But that is not because of what I do. It is because we are all on the same journey.
